About
The story of Celebrate Recovery Pittsburg begins in a way that makes it clear from the start—this was never just a human plan, but a work of God.
In 2012, a set of Celebrate Recovery materials was given to Emmanuel Baptist Church by someone who believed God could use this ministry to bring healing to the community. As the church prayed and sought direction, God began stirring hearts. Six volunteers stepped forward to attend the Celebrate Recovery Summit in California, each one coming with their own life story. Three were newly sober from addiction, one was walking through struggles with codependency, one was carrying personal burdens and life challenges, and one famously said he had no issues at all. But God met each of them there in a personal way, shaping them, humbling them, and uniting them around a shared calling.
During the third week of July, they returned home changed. They didn’t just bring back information—they brought back a deeper awareness that God was already moving in Pittsburg, preparing something far bigger than they could see.
On the very first Sunday after their return, God orchestrated a divine appointment. A couple new to Pittsburg was headed to another church but missed their turn. What seemed like a simple wrong turn was actually God’s direction, leading them straight to Emmanuel Baptist Church. This couple had served faithfully in Celebrate Recovery ministries for over 20 years in different locations, and God had positioned them exactly where they were needed, at exactly the right time.
From there, God continued opening doors. Leaders were raised up, hearts were prepared, and training began. Around a dozen people completed their Celebrate Recovery leadership training and stepped into their first Step Study, all sensing that God was laying a strong foundation for something that would last.
On January 4, 2013, Celebrate Recovery Pittsburg officially opened its doors—not by coincidence, but by God’s perfect timing and provision.
Since that day, God has faithfully moved through this ministry. What started as a small group of willing hearts has become a place where God brings healing to the broken, hope to the discouraged, freedom to those in bondage, and restoration to families who thought it might never come. Over the years, God has used Celebrate Recovery Pittsburg to transform hundreds of lives across Northeast Texas.
Today, the ministry continues to grow under God’s hand. Adults gather for recovery and discipleship, children are cared for in Celebration Place (ages 0–12), and students are strengthened in The Landing (ages 13–17). Every part of the ministry reflects a simple truth: God is still healing, still restoring, and still changing lives.
The story of Celebrate Recovery Pittsburg and the stories of those the program has impacted are still being written—but every chapter points back to the faithfulness, grace, and power of God.
